The Great Lakes Freight and Mining Co. is a Posse of the National Congress of Old West Shootists (NCOWS). The Great Lakes Freight and Mining Co. also has been designated as a Living Museum by the State of Indiana
We hold monthly Western Action Shoots on the First Sunday of each month at Indian Trails Sporting Clays, 7490 S. Indian Trail Road, Modoc, IN. We shoot using the rules established by National Congress of Old West Shootists. During a typical shoot we will normally shoot approximately 30 pistol shots, 50 to 60 rifle shots, 12 to 18 shotgun rounds, and 10 to 12 rounds fired from a pocket pistol. Registration begins at 9:00 AM, and following a brief Safety Meeting, shooting begins at 10:00AM. More about our Western Action Shoots.
The Great Lakes Freight & Mining Co. also stages a monthly train robbery reenactments on the Carthage-Knightstown-Shirley Railroad. The reenactments take place on the third Sunday of each month from May through September. Reenactors must be members of GLFMC or the National Congress of Old West Shootists (NCOWS) to participate. NCOWS & NCOWS Forums on the Internet- NCOWS has a web site with information on NCOWS posses and events around the country. Also, NCOWS has a section of its own on the CAS City Forum. It is a handy way to exchange information on NCOWS over the internet.
